A late 18C, high quality, long door, typically "Edinburgh" well figured mahogany longcase clock with breakarch brass dial by Dalgleish of Edinburgh.

CASE DETAILS

Typical late 18C, high quality, long door, well figured mahogany "Edinburgh" case with compressed eagle/ball centred swan neck pediment, having hand carved rose paterae and typical pierced frets under. Side windows to hood. Shaped top to trunk door, moulded detail to trunk sides and base.

DIAL DETAILS

12" brass dial with two hands and date aperture.

MOVEMENT DETAILS

Good quality 8 day movement with 4 knopped pillars and hourly ( rack ) striking.

MAKER DETAILS

Jn. ( John ) Dalgleish of Edinburgh is recorded 1742 - 71.He was married to Hannah Johnston 19th December 1742 and was Captain of the local militia during the visit of Bonny Prince Charlie in 1745.

DATE - Circa 1770.

HEIGHT - 84.6" ( 215 cms. ) or 81.5 " ( 207 cms. ) ex. Finial.
