Wilmshurst of Deal.Recorded apprenticed
in 1713 died 1777.
Note.- A Thomas Wilmshurst
from Mayfield in Sussex is recorded entering an apprenticeship
with John Finch’s widow Mary in 1713.( John Finch was a noted
London watch and clockmaker during the late17C and served as
Master of the Clockmakers Company in 1707 ).The Deal man is
believed to be the same person.There is no record of Thomas being
freed in London but a number of watches and longcase clocks signed
Deal are known to exist, with a watch in Canterbury museum.He
retired in 1764 and died 5 August 1777. |
