Case: Typical Manchester area mid 18C high quality quarter sawn oak case having well defined medullary rays with burr oak trunk quarter columns, crossbanding, and  other burr oak details.Typical canted corners (also with burr oak details) to base, and ogee bracket feet.The shallow caddy top with decorative blind fretwork and three gilded gesso wooden finials  
Dial: 12.5” square brass dial with penny moon, matted and engraved dial centre, typical large date lunette, and “large cherub head” cast brass spandrels

Movement: Well executed 4 pillar 8 day movement with hourly rack striking.  
Maker: David Collier of Gatley.Born about 1721, worked as a clockmaker at Gatley Green near Manchester, from about 1750 to 1762, moving sometime before 1780 to Eccles, where he continued until his death in 1792
