ANTIQUE Longcase Walnut CLOCKS
Walnut was used for antique walnut longcase clock cases from the late 17C to the middle of the 18C when it was superseded by the fashion for, and availability of, mahogany. It can be relatively plain, figured, highly figured and burr in type with burr ( burl to our U.S. cousins ) generally being rated the finest and most desirable. Expect the "chapter ring and spandrels" form of brass dial with half hour markers to the chapter ring. Unusual to see 30 hour movements in walnut cases except for very early examples.
