This Longcase Mahogany's Maker - Spencer & Perkins - one of the most respected high quality makers of the period recorded at 44, Snow Hill ( London ) 1765 - 1810.Also seen as Perkins and Spencer. Very fine maker of watches and instruments with a pedometer by them in the Guildhall Museum.

Case Classic, typically "London" high quality flame mahogany, pagoda top case with 3 brass spire/ball finials, "wrigglework" decorated red "silk" backed brass frets to pagoda front and to both sides.Brass capped, brass insert hood columns with matching trunk quarter columns and plain brass capped hood rear quarter columns. Good, rich, flame mahogany veneers to trunk door and to raised base panel above typical "London" two step plinth, the lower shaped. Beautifully made, classic example.
Dial 12" breakarch plain painted dial with strike/silent to arch, seconds and date subsidiary dials, polished and lacquered brass hands all on a high quality, cast and "worked" brass dial plate. N.B. Dials are usually painted onto a ( cheaper ) iron base, brass being considered the higher quality option.
