( Thomas ) Jeffery Safford of Bristol recorded apprenticed to James Burr April 14th 1755, became a Burgess February 28th 1778, married Anne Roberts March 1 st 1778, died June 29th 1811 at his house in Queens Square. Business was at 7, Clare St. Apart from clocks also known as a jeweller, dentist, and a maker of artificial teeth.

Case Typical late 18C, long door, "Bristol" figured mahogany case with eagle ball centred swan neck pediment above dentil moulding with typical Bristol pierced fret work under.Fluted, brass capped "floating" hood columns, shaped top to trunk door, fluted canted corners to trunk.
Dial 12" breakarch brass dial with moonphases and High Water at Bristol Key to arch. "Starry Sky" background to moonphases. Finely matted dial centre, square date box, subsidiary seconds dial and blued cut steel hands.Finely engraved moonphase "humps".
Movement Good quality 4 pillar movement with hourly ( rack) striking on a single bell.
