Title LCMAH 287
Case Typical early 19C fretted top "Westcountry", pretty, short door, mahogany case with boxwood and ebony stringing and choice mahogany veneerwork. Good, rich colour. Corinthian capitals to fluted ebonised hood columns with matching quarter columns and capitals to trunk.Typical "wavy edge" to inner of hood door. N.B. This example bears case delivery instructions "Mr. Bullock Clock and Watchmaker Melksham" to lower rear of case written in dark wax crayon.
Dial 12" breakarch painted dial by Walker and Hughes of Birmingham ( recorded 1812 - 26 ( Lower Priory and Fisher St., 1827 - 35 ). with moonphases to arch, colourful four seasons spandrels depicting the four seasons, "sad mouth" date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial. Blued, cut steel hands.
Movement Good quality 4 pillar movement with hourly ( rack ) striking on a single bell.
