This Longcase Mahogany's Maker - Isaac Hewlett recorded - apprenticed to his father, Andrew, 6th July 1741, completed his apprenticeship in 1748 worked until about 1780. Many high quality clocks by him recorded - invariably in fine quality flame mahogany cases with brass dials, moonphases and showing High Water at Bristol Quay ( sometimes spelt Key ). Occasionally 30 hour brass dial longcases and pocket watches noted.

Case Absolutely typical "Bristol" late 18C long door flame mahogany case with "double top" swan neck pediment, shaped top to trunk door, and with canted corners to trunk and base. All set on shallow bracket feet.
Dial 12" breakarch brass dial with moonphases and "High Water at Bristol Key" to arch, finely matted dial centre, square date box, subsidiary seconds dial and blued cut steel hands.
Movement Good quality 4 pillar 8 day movement with hourly ( rack ) striking.
