Title LCLAC 114
Case Exquisitely proportioned, typical, very early 18C, long door, blue ground case with gilt chinoiserie decoration and twin gilt/gesso wooden finials.Shallow caddy top.
Dial 11" square brass dial with half quarters to outer edge of chapter ring, flying bird engraved finely matted dial centre, "twin cherubs & crown" spandrels, starburst to centre of seconds dial, square date box immediately below dial centre and 3 winding holes for ( from right to left ) 6 bell quarter chime, going, and hourly strike - the usual 3 train configuration.
Movement Very interesting 8 day movement with unusual hourly ( rack ) striking, strike/silent facility for the 6 bell ( countwheel ) quarter chiming train with trip facility to re synchronise the countwheel function.Unusual, ingeniously thought out and very well executed.
